Chiropractic

treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Chiropractors are able to correct
spinal misalignments through manual manipulation to relieve pain, increase range
of motion, decrease nerve irritation and improve overall function. It involves
application of pressure with their hands or instruments to abnormally functioning
vertebrae.

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a specialty technique used to
evaluate a patient from a whole body perspective including their structural,
chemical and mental areas of health. Through a non-invasive approach of manual
muscle testing, providers that use this technique are able to treat the nervous
system, improve muscle imbalances, detect nutritional deficiencies or sensitivities,
identify organ dysfunction, influence energy meridians and reduce the overall stress
load on the body. AK is a technique used to examine body function to prepare an
individualized treatment plan specific to each patient at each visit.
-What is muscle testing?
Muscle Testing is a common method of assessment used in AK. It is not a
measurement of muscle strength or weakness, but a neurological test to check
muscle efficiency. The muscle response determines the strength of communication
between the brain and muscle being tested. A weak muscle response indicates a
blockage in communication, which leads the provider to determine the area of
treatment.

Kinesiotape

Kinesiotape is a light, elastic adhesive made of cotton and spandex
that provides sensory input into an area. It is used to stabilize joints, reduce pain,
decrease swelling and increase muscle function without limiting range of motion. It
is most often used in sports injuries, but can be used in several other circumstances
as well.
